Upper School

Grades 3, 4, and 5 make the upper school at PS 307. Scholars at PS 307 take their learning to another level with community service through partnerships like Service Learning Project. Scholars research problems in the community and use their foundational knowledge to create change.
Foci on social-emotional learning provide students the ability to find a balance between their studies and well-being.
The 5th-grade curriculum includes HMH Into Reading, Illustrative Math, Amplify Science, Passport to Social Studies.
HMH Into Reading:
"HMH Into Reading is differentiated by design to offer research-based literacy instruction, support teachers in developing a culture of learning and growth, and help all learners believe in the power of "I can."
Illustrative Math:
"IM Math is a problem-based core curriculum designed to address content and practice standards to foster learning for all. Students learn by doing math, solving problems in mathematical and real-world contexts, and constructing arguments using precise language. Teachers can shift their instruction and facilitate student learning with high-leverage routines to guide learners to understand and make connections between concepts and procedures."
Amplify Science:
"Amplify Science is a K–8 science curriculum that blends hands-on investigations, literacy-rich activities, and interactive digital tools to empower students to think, read, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers."
NY Passport to Social Studies:
"The NYCDOE K-8: Passport to Social Studies program is a comprehensive instructional resource that integrates the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) and the New York State K-8 Social Studies Framework to support strong social studies teaching and learning."
